Revisiting a couple of tiny landscapes from last year. Sometimes I think we rush things. One of my favourite abstract painters, Thomas Nozkowski, said his paintings are never finished until they’ve appeared on the easel at least 100 times.

Two Cups, oil on book cover, 10 x 7”

Inspired by the gorgeous paintings that Andrew Cranston makes on book covers, this painting is on an old cloth cover of Margaret Lawrence’s Diviners. Divine surface to paint on, and reclaimed, for now, from the landfill. 🙏

Daily drawing…

A daily drawing.  As with every turn of the year, I’ve bought myself a new little sketch book with the idea of drawing for at least a few moments each day.  You might try it.  It doesn’t matter what you draw, how you draw, for how long or how ‘good’ a drawing it is.  The only commitment is to draw.  I love having a fresh sketchbook to start but of course it’s not necessary.
